Happy Easter!

Well we had a very quiet Easter. Just the four of us and a visit from the bunny while we were all sleeping. The girls received some books about Easter each as well as a Chocolate Bunny and some smaller solid chocolate eggs hidden all around the house.

A good day was had by all.

Here are some pictures of our lead up to and Easter Celebration

A family visit to the museum for Tata!

Well today we took Tata to the Museum. It is the first time that he has actually had the pleasure of visiting it since we moved here as usually he is working while we are out learning in and around the community. The girls were excited to show him all the different parts of the museum. Afterward we visited Mures and had some chips for lunch – very scrumptious!

Along with a new house comes new traditions

Well as soon as we moved into our new house, we realised that we would have to rethink some of the favourite traditions we had created for ourselves over the years.

Usually for us Sunday is ‘Bunday’, well it was until we moved to our new house. Where we used to live the local bakery was just up the road – a five minute drive for us. So each Sunday we would get up, have a shower and jump in the car and drive to the bakery to buy some knot rolls for us all to have for breakfast, once we arrived back home.

We had done this for so long that the children always looked forward to Sundays, knowing it was Bunday. It was one of those comforting constant happenings in their life. So now that we have moved the children wanted to know what we would be replacing Bunday with, since the local bakery is no more and the closest new one is over 20 kilometres away. So we had to have a family meeting and decide what we could do for a new Sunday tradition.

The ideas were varied but in the end we all decided that we would make Sunday, Pancake Day. Since everyone eats pancakes. So for the last three Sundays we have been enjoying creating a new Sunday tradition. At times the children still think it’s Sunday, Bunday, but quickly realise it’s pancake day instead.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our Pancakes.

Now all I have to do is look for a Pancake cookbook, so I can try and temp my family into trying more savoury and sweet pancakes in the future, instead of them eating their usual boring one kind each!

Happy Sunday!

A casual day at home

Well today started out quite good. The girls and I went down to the local park next to the football oval. I walked all the way while they rode their bikes. We had intended on spending some time there, but as the sky kept growing darker and the clouds appeared heavier we decided that we would make it a quick stop. Phinee decided that she would get me to time her as she raced around the oval on her bike. She wants to see if she can make it around faster each time she attempts the ride. Today the lap around the oval took 2 minutes and 16 seconds – a great effort on her behalf. Only time will tell if she can make it faster or not. Let’s hope she can!

After lunch we had a visit from some friends of ours. They are over from the mainland for 10 days. It is great to see them and to be able to sit and enjoy a chat. They stayed for Dinner and we all enjoyed ourselves. The girls very much enjoyed practicing Netball, playing little pet shops and grabbing some attention from our visitors.

A good day was had by all :)

Back on board!

Well we are all finally back on board and running as normal – if you can ever really say what normal is!

We have finally managed to renovate, paint, re carpet and unpack all our belongings into our new house and also clean and return the keys for the rental house we used to live in in Austins Ferry – ‘used to live in’ how great that sounds to our ears! Especially since now we only have one house to worry about!

We are excited that we managed to get everything under control before the 1st of December. For this is when we start our Christmas craft, cooking and celebrations. Tomorrow we start the tradition of decorating the house for Christmas, cooking Christmas foods, making Christmas crafts, sending Christmas cards and the list goes on and on and on!

So from now on in, we should be able to blog again on a regular basis! which will be so much fun.

I promise to come back soon and add in posts detailing our adventures renovating, painting etc our new home – along with some interesting pictures!
