Anaphylaxis and Asthma First Aid Course plus more!

Well today I had to go to a first aid course for work to learn about Anaphylaxis and asthma treatment in a first aid situation. The course was quite interesting and we got to use a trial EpiPEN as part of the course, so we could work out just how to deliver the EpiPEN if needed. We also road tested placebo Asthma inhalers so that we could work out how to also administer this medication.

After the course was over I returned home and then SZG and I took the children out to the shops to see if we could find any interesting magazine and reading material for our long trip on the Spirit of Tasmania on Monday. We are going across Bass Strait on a day sail, so need plenty of things to keep us occupied. Thankfully we will have a cabin to use so we can have a little privacy and some space away from the big crowds of people who take advantage of the great savings a Day Sail ticket offers you in price compared to a night sailing.

We are all looking forward to this time away. It is hard to believe that it will be our first trip back to the mainland since we moved over to Tassie in April 2008. Wow how times flies when you are having fun!

A Day full of Different Activities!

Beauty Salon is now open!

Beauty Salon is now open!

Today we had a really fun day. The children created their own Beauty Salon, where they would buff customers nails and give massages out! The salon was very busy all day, having over 15 customers through its door on its first day of opening!

We also enjoyed making masks today. The girls designed their own masks. This was a very thought provoking exercise. It was amazing to see their creativity coming out!

Fun at the Botanical Gardens

Fun at the Botanical Gardens

We also enjoyed a few hours at the Botanical Garden. The weather was excellent and after walking around admiring the beautiful flowers and plants we enjoyed a Picnic Lunch near the pond. Then it was off for another walk, before jumping on the bus after a wonderful day out at the Gardens.

Fun Time Today!

First Aid Course a Little Late!

Well I did my first aid course today. It was, over all, a great day, however I could have done with this refresher yesterday, in time for those broken bones that came for a visit! Thank fully the bandages and slings they gave me in the First Aid Kit will come in handy.

NIK is adjusting well to having one less hand to use. Apparently her hand gets itchy every now and then, but overall she is coping with the situation well. The hospital rang to tell us that she has to go back for her checkup next Monday, so hopefully then we will get a better idea of how things are mending. Lets keep our fingers crossed that it all goes well!
