Photographic Challenges – 2009

Well I have always had a real interest in photography, but it is something I have only ever done for pleasure, but as my interest grows and my age also I have decided to try and do more with my photography and try to challenge myself in what I actually take pictures of.

So as we head towards 2009 I have started to search high and low for some interesting themes for photo shots. I was absolutely amazed at how many different ideas people had come up with, in order to challenge themselves and their photographic abilities.

So I have decided to try and challenge myself also. I am going to start a small number of photographic challenges and see if I can not only extend the number of things I photograph, but also the creative ways I do it.

So to start me off I have decided that the best place to start is with myself. I loath having my photograph taken, but I have found the perfect challenge to try and get me over the fear and hate I have for being photographed and hopefully allow me to get more comfortable not only taking photographs, but in being photographed also.

So here is a list of the long term challenges I am going to start in 2009

Short Term Monthly Challenges

  • January 2009 – 31 Reasons to Love Life
  • February 2009 – 28 Days of Food
  • March 2009 – 31 Beautiful Buildings

Long Term Challenges

  • The 365 Days Self Portrait Project – This means I have to take a self portrait of myself each day for 365 day! Sounds, Simple, but probably isn’t! – Starting 2nd January 2009
  • 100 Aspects of everyday life. This means I have to take 100 photos of an every day activity / aspect or everyday life experience.
  • A 2009 Homeschooling Experience in Pictures – This means I have to take photos during 2009, depicting our Homeschooling experience, what makes it interesting, fun and the right choice for us!
  • 100 People – This means I have to take pictures of 100 different people (with consent) and add them here. Now lets see how many interesting characters we can meet!

Over time other challenges or projects will be added, so keep an eye out for what I am doing, how I am going and what I am photographing!
