Yesterday everyone got to sleep in, except SZG. For some reason even though he had the day off, he could not sleep in past 8am, which even though it is a few hours longer than normal for him, in my book still not a sleep in at all.
The Girls and I however managed to stay in bed until after 10am. I am not sure why, but at the time it just seemed like the most heavenly thing to do. However when night time came round, it was obvious that sleeping in was the wrong decision.
As we all know, each choice / action has an opposite reaction. And sleeping in definitely had a reaction. The children just did not wish to go to sleep when bed time came and at 11pm, when SZG and I were heading off to the land to sleep, the children were still wide awake and not looking like slowing down at all.
So we have decided that the children are to be woken up, by noise around the house, earlier in future. So today I am not going to let them sleep past 8.30am. we know it is New Years Eve today, but the children will not be staying up so late tonight as we need to keep to a routine because of SZG’s rotating roster at the moment and unpredictable hours. Therefore they will be going to bed at normal time. We will just have a small party before hand and then a New Years day celebrating tomorrow with them, when both Mumma and Tata can be home to enjoy it.
So next time we dream of the great sleep in, remind us of the trouble it caused at night time! That’s enough to make us ensure that both us and the kids get up at a reasonable hour!
