Weekly Update – 28/10/2011

In my life this week…

Family, extra work and learning. Our Baby turned 6, so she is definitely not a baby anymore, but rather a grown up little girl. We enjoyed sharing her special day with her amongst family and a witch cake! – So appropriate too, with Halloween just around the corner.

In our homeschool this week…

The children have been growing veggies from seedlings, managing the veggie garden and continuing their learning about Animals. Nik enjoyed her birthday by being in charge for the day, something that happens around here on your special occasion.

Places we have been and people we have seen…

We have stayed home for the most part, not venturing out anywhere this week. DJ, Nan and Graeme where all here for Nik’s Birthday celebration and a fun time was had by all.

Things I’m working on… Much of the same ole’ things – My photography, the vegetables garden and helping my kids learn 🙂

Our New Car

Nik in our new CarWell as the engine in our Hyundai Trajet decided to go to engine heaven, We decided that it was time to buy a new car. We looked at Second hand options etc but decided on purchasing a New 2011 KIA Cerato Si Hatch. It drives like a dream and is crisp white!

The children call our Kia Rio a ‘Red Jelly Bean’ and have nicknamed our Kia Cerato ‘the White Jellybaby!’

Weekly Update – 21/10/2011

In my life this week…

My Hyundai Tradjet blew it’s engine, leaving me high and dry. I had to drive the Red Jelly Bean back wards and forwards to work, which was very restrictive for us all, as I was offered more shifts but could only get to work once the Tata had arrived home as we where a one car family. This has meant we have been restricted to being home during the days and not going anywhere..

Tata had Thursday and Friday off work, so we spent Thursday in Launceston. Tata took me to cataract Gorge and the City park. so I could try out my Camera and the photography tips Terry had taught us in class. I enjoyed the day with Tata immensely!

In our homeschool this week…

The children learnt about animals and their habitats during science this week. They explored how the food chain works and how animals have defenses to protect themselves. They watched the Lion King and discussed the animals habitats and behaviours. A lot of fun was had by all.

The children have also been busy in the garden, planting radishes, carrots, pumpkins, butter beans and peas. they have some more seedlings growing and re potted tomato plants. It is their responsibility to water the vegetable gardens and to tend to the veggies and weed the garden beds.

We spent a whole day organising our folders and books for our new learning cycle and cleaning up the house.

Nik started back at her dancing school. They are mad busy getting ready for their end of year concert.

Places we have been and people we have seen…

We have not seen anyone as we have been too busy and stuck at home also with no car!
