Wow these weeks end rather quickly around here!
This week we have enjoyed time with Tata, who has been off work due to the public holidays that fall around this time of year. It has been nice to have him around a bit more too.
The girls have been busy learning – as always – but this last week or two have been focused on play and free time, rather than book work and required learning. The girls have enjoyed this change of focus and it has been great to see what they have chosen to do themselves with their time.
Phinee – as usual – has spent much of her time reading and reading. She has completed ‘The Roman Mysteries Series’ again – all 17 books!. Watched the TV series of the same name also and has started to read other books again. This series of books and story line just seemed to capture her and she is now very interested in Ancient Roman times. We have had a trip to the library and borrowed some books based around Ancient Rome and looked at these also. Phinee has also been playing computer games with her older Brother DJ Online. She loves this opportunity very much. They have worked together apparently and built houses, visited each other and worked hard on it all. She seems to definitely be having fun with DJ which is great.
Nik has chosen to play with her littlest Pet Shop Toys. She loves these very much and they are always a favourite thing when she is looking for something to do away from the books. She has played with them time and time again over the last week or so. Nik has also brought books to me to read to her. She loves nothing more than to sit on my knee and snuggle up while I read her books.
We have cooked together, watch documentaries, done our usual daily chores, danced, sung, read, walked, talked and so much more!
The Hype over the Royal Wedding and Phinees interest in Royal Kings and Queens of the past seen the girls and Tata watch the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton. I was at work, so did not get to enjoy this family time. However I did manage to sneak a peek at the ceremony on the TV when I was on my dinner break. We have also watched countless documentaries about The Royal Family, Royal Buildings, Royal History and life.
We spent time reflecting on ANZAC Day, by reading books about the subject, talking about our families members who were a part of the war and imagining what it must have been like, and thanking our lucky stars for the life we lead now and the freedoms we have, and giving thanks to those people who have paid for us to enjoy this life. – Lest we forget.
Some of the ANZAC related books we enjoyed where:
