Another Quiet day at home for us All!

Well today was another quiet day at home for us all. We managed to sleep in, as SZG had the day off work. Then once we did get up, we just hung around the house for much of the day.

We played wow during the afternoon for a short period of time together, then played Yahtzee after dinner all together. JAHG manages the game well and can quickly work out what dice she needs to keep and which ones to roll again. She was extremely excited when she manage to hit a ‘YAHTZEE’ during our second game of the evening.

NIK on the other hand is just starting to understand what the game is all about. She likes to roll the dice and can then match up the pairs and for the most part count from one to six. She did however have more fun tonight trying to write the letters within her name while we all tried to play Yahtzee around her. She did quite a good job of her ‘N’ and also the ‘A’ and ‘T’ Letters, just have to help her learn to write the rest of the letters and then put them in the right order to spell her name! I am sure she will grasp it sooner rather than later.

Tomorrow we will be starting to set up our books and folders etc for our learning next year. The children started holidays on the 1st of December and were scheduled to start formal learning again on the 4th of January, but as I have been called in to start my job a whole month earlier than expected, they will be starting a little later. Also while I am at work they will both come with me. So for the next few weeks they will be doing alternative activities as part of their learning and we will be easing into it all, as we will not start our formal learning until the 9th of February. This is when I will no longer be working full days (as school holidays will be over for the mainstream sector) and then I will only be working from 2.30pm to 6pm. Thus the girls will have other children to play with on a daily basis.

Both Girls are looking forward to sitting down and setting everything up tomorrow for the new year of learning. I just hope they enjoy going to work with me every day, once I start work next week, and the activities organised for the Vacation care program!

A quite day at the House

Well today was one of those Quiet Days. SZG was supposed to have the day off, but unfortunately the guy that was to work today called him and said he was not feeling the best so SZG had to go in to work. This put a stop to the plans that SZG had made for us meaning we got to stay home rather than go out. But those are the breaks I guess. Not much I or SZG could have done about it.

The girls spent much of the day popping in here and next door, playing with their little friend. They seem to get along quiet well, even though the little girl next door is a little younger than JAHG and a little older than NIK. All in all I think they had a lot of fun.

More Room, Great Space!

Well, today is boxing day! so we have used this time off to get stuck into putting all the Christmas decorations away and to pull the tree down. One of the main reasons for tackling this job so quickly after the Big Day is that the Christmas tree sat in the lounge room and cut of seating space in order to see the TV. So by dismantling the tree and putting it and all the Christmas Decorations away, we now have more room and a great space back again!

Now it’s time to start thinking about New Years Eve! Wonder what we will get up too. We have some tickets to the New Years Eve Taste Festival so will be going to that, but no doubt we will be home early, so I have to think about what we can do as midnight approaches to make it special for us all!

Note to self: put the thinking cap on!

Sharing Christmas Day Happenings!

Well we had the most fabulous day today. It was just the four of us, unfortunately we only got to speak briefly with our son to wish him a wonderful Christmas, but we thought of him often and talked about him lots. We were looking forward to seeing him in January, but unfortunately this is not to be…

Anyway, here are some photos of our fantastic Christmas day, it was a low key affair with just us, our Christmas music, BBQ and Christmas foods!. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we did!

A little bit of Polish for Christmas!

We  just wanted to have a separate post to tell you a little bit about the ‘little bit of Polish’ we received for Christmas!

The children were very excited to open their Christmas parcel from Poland. It was the last parcel we opened as we wanted it to be the biggest surprise!

As usual we were thoroughly spoilt this year. The parcel contained, chocolates, biscuits, a gingerbread house (which we will make for either at New Year or when we go to Victoria in January!). The children also received some wonderful clothes, and toys. The absolute highlight was the Masks and Puppets they got. For hours afterwards the children played with them and even created and put on a play for us using the puppets and dressed in the masks!

Here are some photos of the Children opening the present and then having fun with our ‘Little Bit of Poland’ for Christmas! Thank you to the Smółko Family for their wonderful gifts and Christmas Wishes!
