With the new year fast approaching we have been busy trying to decide what we can use as our main ‘themes’ and activities for 2010. We have been looking for themes and activities that will allow us the freedom to branch out if we choose, but still remain within our original idea as required.
Thankfully after weeks and weeks of discussion, deliberation, frustration and excitement we have finally cemented what our themes and activities will be for our home learning in 2010.
We are starting out with a few new projects that will no doubt continue right through the year and beyond..
Our themes and activities for 2010 are:
2010 will also bring with it the usual English, maths, science, history, geography, socialisation, sports, art, craft and a million other learning opportunities about for us.
JAHG will be continuing to work on her ‘Junior BP Award’ at Girl Guides as well as other badge work, before progressing onto her BP Award and other achievements.

Well today we went bowling as part of our Hobart Home Education Group activities. It was a great day with a great mix of families attending. The atmosphere was great and the children had a lot of fun, and I know the adults did too!
We will be going back again next week for another shot at bowling and then hopefully in the new year we may be able to meet up once a month on a more regular basis to play together.

Well today was the 11th day of the 11th Month. So the children and I went into Hobart to share in the experience of the Remembrance Day Celebrations at the Hobart War Memorial.
Prior to the today, the children and I had talked about the meaning and importance of remembrance day and what it was all about. We talked about the opportunity for us to go to a service and for us to honour and pay our respects to those who had fought and died for us to have the freedom that we experience and enjoy even today.
Once we arrived at the war memorial we purchased ourselves a ‘Poppy’ each and wore them with pride. At the service their were local school children singing and also many political and important people in attendance, who all laid a wreath. Also many service men and women where also there and after the service was concluded we were able look at and take pictures of the wreaths, military people, horses and machinery.

Well I have been busy looking for some part time work, for quite some time now, which would help to just give us a few dollars more each week. But will also allow us to continue home educating the children.
My big break happened this morning. I had gone for an interview last week and this morning I received a phone call to say that I had been successful. The great part about it all is that I can take our kids with me and I only have to work a few hours each day. Allowing for me to earn a little income while also being able to maintain home educating the children as we already do!
A great result I feel and I am very happy about it too!
