I wanted to share with you a focus group that we came across while surfing the net looking at ways to create sustainable living within the 21st Century.
The concept of ‘Team Earth’ is to inspire a movement around the globe of students, teachers, families, companies and businesses to join together to help devise and create relevant & sustainable solutions that will encourage innovation. Team Earth also hopes to encourage responsible consumption by everyone and therefore help transform the way we all look at and manage the earths natural resources, so that they will survive beyond the foreseeable future, and be there for many generations to come.
This focus groups provides an online platform for us all to join in, speak up and devise ways to take action. According the the ePal.com website….
Ensuring the sustainability of Earth’s essential resources while maintaining economic growth is the defining challenge of the 21st century. How we manage the gifts of nature – a stable climate, fresh water and abundant oceans, fertile soils for food, the right conditions for healthy lives and the ability to sustainably balance human needs – will determine the long-term health and prosperity of all people, everywhere.
To address these realities, Team Earth will convene a global cross sector collaboration to galvanize leading companies, powerful brands, non-profits, teachers, students and others to take “collective action” at a global scale. Guided by the wisdom of a blue-ribbon panel of the world’s leading scientists, Team Earth is designed to harness the power of social media and global outreach to incite action and create momentum around efforts to address the great challenges of our time. Initial campaigns will focus on forest protection as a tool to slow climate change. Watch for further rallying cries around energy use, fresh water, and the way we consume.
Keeping the Earth healthy and its resources sustainable are goalswe should all aspire too. So why not join in and become part of ‘Team Earth’

Why is it that I have to get sick, just when there is so much to do and not enough time to rest and relax? I have had a temperature for the last two days at around 38.5 to 39.2 degrees Celsius. My body aches and my throat is raw from continual coughing. I have hot and cold shivers and I am sick of sucking on butter methols or vicks vapour drops and can’t wait for this all to be over.
Thankfully the children have managed to avoid it all, so far. They have also been great about going about their own learning and looking after each other while mum just manages to get on with what needs to be done. The washing is mounting up, the dishes have again become a pile on the kitchen bench. I guess it is now time to stop moping around and get stuck into cleaning while I have a few minutes where I feel a little better..
Better be going now…. Lets hope that tomorrow is a new and brighter day!
Well here we are mid way through September and already the end of our learning for 2009 is quickly coming to a close. It is amazing really the amount of things we have done this year and what we have all learned. Not only from our work, but from each other.
We have all enjoyed the home education journey immensely this year, as we had last year. And already we are starting to focus on what will be the beginning of a new years journey in 2010.You know when we first set out on this journey, we did not really know what to expect or even where it would take us. We have tried things out along the way. Many things have been fabulous, but at other times things have failed miserably from what we expected. But regardless of the path we walked, we have walked it together, and altered course when needed, to ensure that no one was left behind.
Everyone has been given the opportunity to pick up on things they may have missed along the way and have been able to revisit places of interest, or areas of challenge, as often as they choose until they are comfortable with where they are today. We all contribute to the path ahead and embrace the themes that will be the threads of our learning now and in the future.
Home education is so much more to us than just school at home for us, in fact it does not resemble school at all on so many levels. Instead it is a lifestyle that we all contribute to and embrace with a passion. A way of life that we all choose to be a part of and a chance for us to really bond and fulfill our destinies – what ever they may be and where ever they may take us!
Isn’t it amazing how life seems to stop when you are waiting for news. This has definitely been the case around here over the last few weeks. We are currently in the process of one of the biggest decisions of our life, and awaiting news of what could be. So while we await, things seem to be in slow mode.
We keep putting them off until we know the answer, so that we no longer have to guess the path to cross, but will know the road ahead. Why do we allow this decision to impact on our lives so much? … because the fact is, it always will continue to impact on our lives. It will bring with it new possibilities, new freedoms as well as new rules and responsibilities.
