The fun begins….

Well it is only 11am and already I have done a days work. I have been up since 3.30 am when SZG left to drive to Hobart for work today.

Finally the truck for moving has been ordered and booked for this Friday. Its great news as we are very excited about having everything all organised and ready to go. We are on a tight schedule, so everything needs to be planned and organised prior to Friday.

I have also organised the steam cleaning of the carpet in this house, for one day next week. Everything seems to be coming together nicely which is great.

JAHG is at school today. She is excited about the move, but sad that she will have to leave her little friends behind. this hopefully will have to be the last school she moves from as we will be home schooling her for the remainder of this year and then hopefully starting her at St. Mary’s in Hobart City Centre next year. this means that she will then be able to stay at this school regardless of were we live in Hobart or if we have to move in the future. We have an appointment with St Mary’s this Friday, but I have cancelled it as I am not going to be able to make it and will reschedule it once we are settled in Hobart in the next week or so.

So once we have the interview at St. Mary’s if they are able to take JAHG into school this year we will do that if not then we will just start her there from next year. we are not prepared to send her to another school in between. JAHG is excited about being home schooled again and she works so hard at home for me that it is a pleasure to have her working from home doing her schooling also.

Anyway, there is so much to do today and for the rest of the week that I better get a move on. I have loads of things to pack and clean…

Fun at the Hobart Wharf

During the week we were in Hobart. I tried to give the children the opportunity to enjoy some time out from looking at houses all the time. We spent some fun time down at Kingston Beach playing in the water and also on the wharf in Hobart City Centre, just around the corner from where their dad works.

The children loved looking at all the different boats etc and were very suprised to see one of the bridges open for a boat to get through…

Here are some pictures of around the Wharf area…

A Week in Hobart

What a week it was!

SZG started work on Monday morning at 8am, so we all got up really early 3.30am and left at 4am to drive down to Hobart in time for SZG to start his first day working in the city.

We ended up staying in a motel for the week from Monday to Thursday night. SZG went to work each day and the children and I went house hunting. I reckon we would have visited about 50-60 houses over the five days we were there. I will be happy if I never have to look at another house for a few years now!

It was as Friday was drawing to a close that we finally got the phone call we were waiting for. The realestate agent caleled to say that we had been accepted as a tenant for one of the houses we had put in for. YIPPEE! what a relief, Now I could go home and start packing for oue move, rather than having to come back next week to start the whole house hunting over again!

So we will be living in a new house just built about 20 kilometres outside of Hobart. It is on approximately 1/4 of a acre and has 4 bedrooms, open plan living / dinning and kitchen area and is set out over three levels. Enough room for us all….

We take possession of the house on the 17th of October, so will be moving in this coming weekend, which is a welcomed relief and a much welcomed change in our lives. We have loved living where we currently are, but times are a changing and we have to move on. So this will be a new beginning for us all and with a 12 month lease, it means we are set put for the next little while.

Here are some pictures of the house we will be moving into…

It’s Official!

Today JAHG went to School and NIK into care. SZG and I then drove to Launceston for SZG to sign and seal his fate with his new job. He had to do some initial training in OHS etc before he could leave, but now he has everything done and his uniform ready so roll on Monday! He is to start work at 8am so it will be an early rise for us as I will drive down to Hobart while everyone sleeps in the car as We just can’t afford the extra night in a motel for him right now as we already have to pay for quite a few this week and maybe next depending on how long it takes us to get a house to live in in Hobart.

It will all be worth it in the end though, just got to keep on top of everything and try and make the move as smooth as possible. Thankfully we have a very good friend who is willing to help us move, so he will fly over from the mainland as soon as we get somewhere to move to.

Wednesday is a Good day!

Well today was to be another day of uncertainty. We all got up early and drove down to Hobart. SZG had a Job interview. It was set for 12pm, so we did not have to rush as such, which was great. The trip down to Hobart from Branxholm, was a long and windy one like usual. Thankfully the weather was good, so there was no rain all the way down.

We drove without stopping and enjoyed the trip. The children watched DVD’s for most of the way, which is great as it is a long trip for little ones, especially when you have to return back home the same day.

Anyway, SZG went for his interview. They initially said it could take 30 minutes to an hour. So the kids and I walked around Hobart and went down to the wharf. We had some hot chips and the children enjoyed seeing all the boats. We had a lovely time.

We then walked back to meet SZG an hour later, as he had not called so we assumed the interview would be finishing soon. Still SZG did not arrive at the car. The children and I waited and waited and about 2 hours after he went in for his interview, SZG came out.

Now the fun begun. The told us it could take anything from 2-3 days for them to let us know how he went. So off we headed to grab a coffee and to a place for the children to play. While we were drinking our coffee SZG’s phone rang. It was the company to say that he had got the job, he could start this monday the 6th of October 2008. What a relief, now one of us had a job in Hobart, but he had to start this Monday coming, now thats a pain in the bum!, but we are very happy and excited at the same time.

After our Coffee, we went travelling around looking at houses as now we need somewhere to live in a hurry. We looked at a few, but only put in an application for one of them as the other we did not like. the one we do is big and has the space we need, is not in the city centre, but close enough for our needs and has Sea views, so a plus there too!

So we have put in our 28 days notice here in Branxholm, and are busy praying that we will get a call in the next day or two letting us know we have the other house to move into. SZG will start work on Monday and will have to stay in a motel overnight while working, so the kids and I will go with him and continue the hunt for a new house to move into. So Hobart, here we come!

All excited and ready to go! – Now its time to get some sleep as its been a long day!
